본 과목은 성악을 전공으로 하여 앞으로 연주자로서, 성악을 가르치는 지도자로서의 능력을 향상시키며, 성악을 보다 과학적(음향학적, 해부학적)으로 접근하여 훌륭한 성악인을 만듦을 그 목적으로 한다.

성악 독창곡에 관한 문헌을 공부하는 것으로 이 과목에서는 1600년대부터 현대까지의 문헌을 다루기로 하며, 연구한 문헌을 연주함으로 전체적인 음악적 예술성 및 독특한 양식, 성격, 프레이즈, 딕션 등을 직접 익힐 수 있게 한다.

이 과목에서는 Opera의 발생부터 현대까지 역사와 발달 및 변천과정을 연대별로 조사하여 연구한다. 2008-1 오페라 탄생과정부터 현대에 이르기까지 사회학적 측면에서 작품의 변천과정을 살펴보고 그 과정에서 필연성으로 그 시대의 문화권에 미치게 된 영향을 집중 토론해 봄으로 우리가 살고 있는 이시대의 문화를 보다 객관적으로 균형감을 가지고 발전시킬 글로벌 리더 양성을 목표로 매주 주제를 설정하여 세미나 형식으로 진행한다.

The musical selections for the class will be determined by the instructor at the beginning of the first class session according to the needs of the students. <성악과> This seminar offers an intensive study of musical form and analysis, using broad range of methodologies and across a variety of musical genres. Repertoire from 17th century until 1900 will be examined.
