CREATING A GLOBAL UNIVERSITY

1) Student Visa D-2

Freshmen/transferred students applying for VISA in their home countries should
  • Submit a Certificate of Admission issued by the Yeungnam University International Services and apply for VISA directly at the Embassy or the Consulate of the Republic of Korea in their home countries.
Freshmen/Transferred students whose nationality is one of the countries below:

China, Cuba, Syria, Macedonia, and Kosovo. The visa needs to be issued here in Korea at the Immigration Office by officials of the university. Please submit the following documents to the admission office for visa issuance number.

  • Certificate of Admission (provided by YU)
  • 1 color photo of the applicant (3.5*4.5(cm))
  • Certificate of bank balance (Must be over $10,000 USD)
  • Census registry
  • Certificate of High School Graduation (Must obtain certification from the Embassy or the Consulate of the Republic of Korea or the Foreign Ministry of their home country after notarization.)

Census Registry (China: Copy of Household Register) and Certificate of High School Graduation (Must obtain certification from the Embassy or the Consulate of the Republic of Korea or the Foreign Ministry of their home country after notarization) are required.

2) Returning students (Students from China, Cuba, Syria, Macedonia, Kosovo)

  • Original copy of Certificate of Admission
  • High school transcript
  • Transcript from Yeungnam University
  • 1 copy of passport and ID
  • 1 copy of household register including all family members
  • The copy of parents’ ID must have their English names written on it.
  • Certificate of bank balance (Original copy, must be over $10,000 USD)
  • 1 copy of ID photo
  • Certificate of high school graduation (Must obtain certification from the Embassy or the Consulate of the Republic of Korea or the Foreign Ministry of their home country after notarization)

Returning students who are not from China, Cuba, Syria, Macedonia, Kosovo should visit the Korean Embassy or the Consulate in their home countries with Certificate of Admission issued from the Office of International Services and apply for VISA.

3) VISA Change from D4 to D2

  • Passport
  • Copy of Alien Registration
  • Fee
  • Application Form
  • 1 color photo of the applicant (3.5 x 4.5 (㎝))
  • Certificate of Admission
  • Receipt for the Tuition Payment
  • Certificate of Bank Balance (Must be over $12,000 USD)
  • Census registry (China: Copy of household register)
  • Certificate of High School Graduation(Must be certified from the Embassy or the Consulate of the Republic of Korea or the Foreign Ministry of their home country after notarization)

Census Registry (China: Copy of household register) and Certificate of High School Graduation (Must obtain certification from the Embassy or the Consulate of the Republic of Korea or the Foreign Ministry of their home country after notarization.) are required of the students of the following nations: China, the Philippines, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Mongolia, Thailand, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Iran, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine, Nigeria, Ghana, Egypt, Peru

Yeungnam University students from countries other than China, the Philippines, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Mongolia, Thailand, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Iran, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine, Nigeria, Ghana, Egypt, and Peru can submit the following documents only: Certificate of Admission, Application Form, Alien Registration Card, Fee

4) Visa Extension

Students who need to stay in Korea longer than permitted period need to apply for visa extension.

(1) D-2 Extension

Students with GPA higher than C (Accumulative GPA 2.0): Application form, Certificate of Enrollment, Transcript, Alien Registration Card, Fee Students with GPA lower than C: Application form, Certificate of Enrollment, Transcript, Alien Registration Card, Fee, Certificate of bank balance amounting to $5,000 USD or higher.

(2) D-4 Extension

Students with attendance 70% or higher: Application Form, Certificate of Enrollment, Transcript, Alien Registration Card, Fee Students with attendance lower than 70%: Application Form, Certificate of Enrollment, Transcript, Alien Registration Card, Fee, Certificate of bank balance $3,000 USD or higher.

5) Alien Registration Card

All foreigners with visas permitting a stay of more than 90 days and who intend to stay for more than 90 days after the date of arrival must apply for an alien registration card at the local Immigration Office. An alien registration card will be issued within 4 weeks after application is processed. As an alien registration card is a requirement when applying for most services in Korea, it is advised that Yeungnam University students have it issued as soon as possible.
