In order to realize “'Creative Innovation University” to contribute in prosperities of human society with a new vision declared by YU in celebration of the 75th anniversary, a social contribution group was launched with the will of the whole university members.

YU Global Volunteer Team consisting of 44 volunteers is dispatched to Cambodia in January 2023. The volunteer team will be divided into two teams and each of the teams will dispatch to Phnom Penh and Kampong Cham in Cambodia, respectively, to make service activities and cultural exchanges with local students and residents in order to let them know about Korea.

YU students dispatched to Cambodia plan to visit educational institutions including local orphanages and make educational services and to visit Western University and make cultural exchanges including mutual traditional plays with the students.

On January 9th, HAN Hee-soo (3rd grade of Department of Mechanical Engineering) in charge of the leader of the 2nd dispatched volunteer team said, “I felt that I had grown by myself when learning and gaining unexpected things in the process of educational volunteer activity at night schools. I decided to participate in the Global Volunteer Team to prepare for an opportunity to grow one step further over sharing in a wider world. I prepared hard with my teammates and will enhance the prestige of YU and Korea by making fruitful volunteer activity in Cambodia.”

Especially, YU Medical Center will support this global volunteer activity. A medical team consisting of physicians, nurses, and nutritionists will make medical volunteer activity at local hospitals in Cambodia with health authority personnel and medical staff. The medical team also plans to provide local residents with health education on disease control and prevention.
